Princess donated about 17 inches of hair back at Christmas - yes, I know - a LONG time ago and I really did mean to blog about it. . . remember that baby;-)

For something special on her 8th birthday in June, she got to pick out a really fun hairpiece that matches beautifully and gives her a beautiful updo look. It's actually an adult hairpiece, on the expensive side, but it was her birthday present. I love how it twists around her teeny tiny ponytail (sorry, NOT shown) and hangs in beautiful curls.

Princess - being Princess - we had to add some bling AND color the the updo too. It's a shame that you can't see the sparkle of the bling in the picture. The color comes from a fun colorful ponytail wrap that we bought ages ago. Tucked in, it looked so fun.

I love that even though she's got fairly short hair now, she still likes to do some fun and beautiful things with it. I also love how fast hairpieces can turn a little girl into a diva!

She was definitely the hit at the restaurant - Panara Bread - her birthday dinner pick - at least it wasn't McDonalds! I do love my little Princess!

Sunday Morning 'Dos

I'm feeling the pull to get back into hair blogging, even with the new baby AND the carpal tunnel - ouch! But last Sunday I did get in a little cuteness!

The Tiara

I borrowed this from a favorite website, Shaunell's Hair and it turned out great - not perfect, but lovely all the same. We even got a couple of days out of it, thanks to is being created with messy buns. I still don't have the hang of Shaunell's way of making stuffed buns, I still need lots of bobby pins, but it still looked lovely and my little princess was happy to show it off:

The Grecian: A Style for your "big" girls

Little Bird, my big girl, is in 5th grade now. She doesn't mind a french

braid and actually prefers a messy bun, but I really wanted a little variety that she wouldn't totally balk at. This was my solution. I created a simple headband followed by a messy bun.

Her hair is just long enough now to make the headband at the nape of the neck and the end tie into the big ponytail. Her hair is so incredibly thick that I find it challenging to secure it, but fortunately, there is a curl on the underside so we left a few tendrils hanging in semi ringlets. On school days I don't usually bother with bobby pins, they don't usually stay in her hair that well, but this morning I wanted to tame the messy bun some and about half of the pins stayed in the whole day. Still for a quick and easy style, I think it looks great on my big girl.

I began this blog when I had two girls and wanted to learn ways to make their hair fun and pretty. Along the way we gained another little girl and, well, we need to train her up right. . .

To begin with, she needs to know all about accessories! Although I don't have the photo proof, it started in the hospital. Then, as shown, continued at her 2 week photo shoot. . .

Headbands. . . followed by hats. . .

Cute. . . Pretty. . . Silly!

By the time her hair grows long enough to style, she'll be ready to rock and roll!

The Birthday Updo

The Princess loves an updo with the works! Usually we find ourselves doing a version of the flower bun and spiral ringlets. Getting a little bored, I like how the top of this do adds some fun.

We sectioned off the top and twisted them combining them into twist braids that we added to the ponytail we had already created. It's nice having a big collection of bands, we used a big one for the big ponytail and an elastic to secure the twist braids.

Then I only created the top of the flower bun, leaving the rest of the hair to hang long and then curl with the spiral curling iron. I like doing this occasionally so one can get a sense of how long her hair is. Someday she'll probably want to cut it, but hopefully that day is far, far away. Meanwhile, she loves having long hair!

This was the perfect 'do for a special outing to "Build-a-Bear" and then to the Melting Pot for a chocolate dessert! Yum!

Daddy Daughter Dance

These pictures are from last May and I'm finally posting them:

Little Bird was actually very cooperative. We washed and dried her very thick hair, using a round brush to straighten it and put a curl at the end. It has natural curls on the underside and can be very unruly. After pulling it back into small ponytails we put some curls in using the spiral curing iron.

Princess wanted a fancy updo - of course! We pulled it back into a ponytail. Then we put most of it up into a flower bun. The remaining hair and ends from the flower bun were curled with the spiral curling iron. The tiara and flower were the finishing touches. The flower made it through the night, the tiara did not!

Just for kicks I thought I'd share our little Dancing Queen doing her thing! We've always said she dances to the tune of her own orchestra.

Crazy Hair Day at School

The Princess:
So I’m beginning to get over the worst of the morning sickness, just barely. But today’s occasion called for me to do something fun. Today was “Crazy Hair Day” at school. On top of the morning sickness, I had a 7:00 a.m. staff meeting as well. Usually we don’t have to all be to school until 8:00 a.m.

Last night to prep, I sectioned my princess’s hair into ponytails all over her head. Then I threaded glittery gold pipe cleaners into the pony tails and braided them into the hair. I left the hair at the end to twist and hang with the ends of the pipe cleaners which I twisted into little spirals. Then she was off to bed. It took her a little while to find a comfortable position to sleep, but she finally managed it.
This morning her daddy brought her to school a little early. She and her sister arranged her braids and then I added a few flowers and an extra pipe cleaner. I stayed remarkably stiff all day!

Little Bird:
Last night I divided Little Bird’s hair into pony tails all over her head. I wasn’t worried about being especially neat since I knew the girls would be sleeping on their hair. I wrapped her hair into loose bantu knots. This morning, I re-wrapped the knots and added flowers or pipe cleaners to many of the knots.

These days I can’t get caught up on perfect - but it sure was fun!

Question – what did I do for Crazy Hair Day??? I wore a hat! LOL, after all it was actually Crazy Hair/Hat Day.

Post Script: Both Girls won for their grade. They were very happy!

Slowing Down - 'till the Morning Sickness Passes!

Yep, that's right. Very, very, very, very surprisingly, at 38 I have found that I am expecting my 3rd child. I was SO tired over Christmas vacation - hmmm. Well, my girls have been lucky if their hair is getting brushed - me too, as I am working full time and feeling very old. Hopefully on some weekend, after a few naps I can actually do something interesting to my little girl's hair, but until then, I think I need to take a few more weeks off.

The night before do's

It's been a little while since I last posted - I've been having some health issues, but frankly I need to get something together because my children were looking like little rag dolls! Their daddy got them ready for school yesterday - they didn't even meet a hairbrush in the morning!

I've been extra tired but I had the girls take a bath last night and prepped their hair so I had VERY LITTLE to do this morning. After baths last night, I parted my little princesses hair into the hair headband, then I divided the rest with the zigzag part. I put the hair in pony tails and I wrapped them around my finger and made them each into a giant pin curl. It took a lot of bobby pins. I secured the hair headband with another set of bobby pins and put her to bed.
This morning, I wet down the hair headband and added gel. I smoothed it down and secured it behind her head. It looked like a little ponytail sticking out. Then I made some loose messy buns. They looked cute with the large curls in them. Then I tucked the little ponytail from the headband up into one of the messy buns.

Honestly, it wasn't perfect, but I'm talking 7 minutes tops here - and compared to yesterday, she looked like a million bucks!

Little Bird still hates having her hair done, but I needed her to look better than she has lately.

After her bath I put in five small french braids on a diagonal part and used clips to secure them. I knew they wouldn't be super neat the next morning, but it actually wasn't too bad.

I took the ends of each braid and bobby pinned them into pin curls. Then I sort of twisted the rest of her hair into two pony tail bun like things (I KNOW, so technical!) so that it would have a little wave in it.

I think Little Bird's hair looked fantastic from the back, but wasn't quite as neat as I'd like it in front . . . but then again, she looked SO much better than the poor waif she had been looking like!

French Knots with a Messy Bun and some french twists on the side!

I don't know what these are called but I'm going to call them French knots. What I really love about them is that they make my princess look like she's got really thick hair!

I parted my princess's hair diagonally across the top into three large sections and left two small ones on the sides.
I made the french knots by tying the hair like you would a shoelace, after each tie, I'd grab another little section of hair and tie that in working myself from the front to the back.
After I finished each row I bobby pinned it in place for the time being.

I pulled all of the hair (minus the side sections below the french knots) into a pony tail and then removed the bobby pins.
Then I did a small french twist with the little side hairs on each side and continued the twist to the end.

I wrapped each twist around the pony tail and bobby pinned it.

Then I used another elastic around the pony tail - pulled the hair half way through and used a second elastic to help shape the messy bun. Other than the bobby pin showing in this picture, I really like how the messy bun turned out.

New Years Eve Do's

Little Bird's 4 knots and ponies - with curls to boot!
Little Bird asked me why I copy other peoples styles from their websites. . . well, I guess because they are so darn cute! I did use another site as an inspiration, I just discovered Piggies 'N Ponies and did a variation of her 3 knots and a pony.

I started with wet hair that I parted on a diagonal into four sections. Then in each of the sections, I divided it into two, made a knot on the front and then pulled that into a ponytail in the second section.

After it dried - I let it mostly air dry and then blow dried the last little bit, Little Bird actually let me curl her hair! She has VERY thick hair and I'm finding it hard to curl her hair with the flat iron, however, my new spiral curling iron worked great. I curled most of her hair under and spiral curled the top layer and the four pony tails.

The finished look was charming AND it stayed out of her face all night. We'll see what it looks like in the morning.

The Princess - our version of the "Curvy-Swirvy New Year's Updo"

I love that name! It was my first try and it turned out pretty good, not quite as awsome as THE MOM over at Babes in Hairland, but not bad for my first try. It'll be much better next time;-) Many thanks to my Hair Hero: The Mom at Babes in Hairland! She posted this style yesterday (you can see it here) and my princess loved it. My little one told me it goes really well with her fancy dress. I think she looks very grown up. This would really be a terrific flower girl do! At least the way THE MOM does it, like I said, my next time will be better.

A Cap full O' Braids

This is actually yet another recycle! My princess does NOT want me to take out her little braids on the top of her head. They've been in for 6 days now! The last few days I've put her hair in buns, braided it, added a hairpiece scrunchy, and this morning she was running around with her hair all wild and knotted. This picture at least shows her after I brushed the tangles out.

You can see she still has the hair headband going on so I left that when I parted her hair and put it in two low ponytails.
Then, just for fun I made three braids. Two of them are regular braids and one is a twist braid. My little princess was a little ancy so I didn't try to learn how to do the fishtail on her that I wanted to.

The little princess wanted ringlets but didn't want her hair to take a long time so we compromised - I braided and then curled the bottom of the braids. We love our new spiral curing iron.

If we weren't planning on putting the hat on I would have made her hair at the top neater and wet it down, but since it was going to get covered up, I didn't spent that much time on it.

Cap on and all smiles. This only took about 7 minutes to do.

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day 2 Day Fancy Do

Christmas Eve: Super Fancy Do!

I didn't take pictures of all the steps but I will explain as best I can:

After washing her hair I put mouse in it. Honestly, I am still learning all my hair products and in a process of experimentation, but the mouse seemed to work well.

I divided the front of the hair that I wanted to be the hair headband and I clipped it out of the way. After I did the upside down french braid I worked on these - I will explain in better detail farther down.

I then had my princess lay face down on the bed with her head hanging over the side. You can see step by step directions of this at Its a Girl Thing blog here. Her hair was damp and I french braided it from the neck up to the crown of her head. My first try of this actually turned out better than this day - come to think of it, the upside down french braid might have been overkill - but I had an idea in my head. . .

Then I put an elastic around the end of the french braid right at the head and left all the hair hanging down. I clipped it out of the way so I could work on the hair headband.

First I made the side part and another part about an inch away. This is where I made the three little braids. We did this a few weeks ago and the princess LOVED it. She wore those braids for 3 days!

I put in gel and made sure her hair was wet as I combed in smooth over the sides of her head and behind her ears. I attached both sides just under her right ear with a small elastic. The braids and their elastics were in that little pony but that looked fine.

Next I worked on a partial flower bun. I used half of the hair in the ponytail on the top of her head and began making loops. I used the flat iron to smooth out the hair. My loops were exaggerated and very large. I was going for an over the top hairdo for this day. I will say that the flower bun didn't make it all the way until midnight, but it lasted most of the evening. I secured the loops with bobby pins. My little one has extremely long hair although not especially thick, so I reused some of the hair to make more loops and I left some of it to curl down the side.

We got to try out our new spiral curling iron - it worked really well!

I finished everything off by bobby pinning in some fun silver glittered Christmas decorations that I picket out to go with my little one's dress and I made the ribbon with some scrap ribbon that came off a bouquet of flowers I bought last week and another decoration I hot glued on.

All in all I had one happy little princess who felt like the belle of the ball!
Day 2: Fancy Do

On Christmas we were all exhausted from our night before. We didn't get home until after 1:00 a.m. and the last thing I wanted to do this day was spend a long time on another fancy do - so we recycled!

This picture was taken after our little one had already been running around the house with cousins for over an hour.

The do:

I redid the hair headband, wetting it down, recombing and fastening it with an elastic near her ear again.

Then I took out the upside down french braid and brushed it out. I took the top section and flat ironed it, it was really bumpy from the night before. You can't see our little one's poof - she'd already been running around with cousins for an hour by this time, but I back combed her hair into a poof and smoothed the freshly flat ironed hair over it. It was also weighed down by the large bow from the night before.
I did slightly more haphazard ringlets in her hair this evening and called it terrific!

Day 1 & 2 - If you use enough hairspray it works for both;-)

The picture above is from Day 1 and the bottom picture is from Day 2 after an hour running through the house with cousins. I LOVE this style. Also, my little bird has shoulder length hair - this is a fabulous style for short hair!

I did this style for my oldest when she was in a play earlier this month. I got the style from a favorite hair blog of mine: Girly Do's by Jenn, and you can see the step by step directions here.

I use four pony tails instead of the three shown in Jenn's blog and I section it off the night before and put it in curlers while it's still damp. This turned out much better than my first and second tries:

The ribbon is probably two yards long and I'm sure I used over 40 bobby pins. I didn't put the flowers in for Christmas. On Christmas I made the loops bigger - especially in the front, I liked how it looked much better.

See - practice makes ~~perfect~~ better!

Cute Braided Headband with Pigtails

Little Bird got to sleep in on this morning and was in a good mood when I did her hair. I loved how it turned out and even better – I managed a few shots of her with a natural smile – a real feat indeed!

Little Bird’s hair was inspired by Adopt a ‘Do’s Wrap Around French Braid video tutorial. I can’t remember where I stole/borrowed the double braids at the top, I’ll add a link if I find it. I love how these braids pop up because I only pulled hair into the French braid from one side.

My Princess Models her Tutu from Tutubug!

Our tutu from tutubug arrived today! Princess dissappeared upstairs during the end of our gingerbread house making and when she returned she was in her tights and leotard ready to model her new tutu for us!

Her hairstyle from yesterday still looked great today as well.

Fancy Updo for a Special Occasion

We had time today and I wanted to see how my princess’s hair looked in an awesome style first seen on The Princess and her Hair blog that you can check out here. My little one has very long hair but it isn’t extremely thick – although closer to her scalp it is finally thickening - a good sign as she is six now. I decided that I’d do a few things different and being new at hair I’d need some practice making it look alright. I began by washing and conditioning her hair.

We only wash her hair about 2 times a week right now. Unless I’m doing something really special I don’t always put that much product in her hair and it doesn’t seem to need washing more often - especially as our house is so dry.

I made a pony tail in the middle of her head trying my best to leave an even ring of hair all the way around. I clipped it out of my way.

Then I put sections into pony tails. I didn’t do anything fancy here, just tried to make them pretty even all the way around her head. Her hair is pretty long so I kept wrapping the mini pony tails around her bun to keep them out of the way.

Then I split the ponies and made the twist braids. I wasn’t sure how far to braid so each of my twist braids ended up being different lengths.

They weren’t as tight as I’d like them, but I was able to fix that when I put them in the big ponytail. To hold them in the right positions, I bobby pinned them down until I had the elastic secured.

Then I took all of the ends of the twist braids and pulled them together and bobby pinned them out of the way.

Next I started making loops as I would in making a flower bun. I only worked on the top half of the flower. I looped each section of hair only once and left the rest of the hair to hang down.

Then I let the ends dry and curled them with a flat iron. I covered up the ends of the twist braids with a flower clip.
I caught her admiring herself in the mirror! Too cute!

Thursday Day #4 - I did it!

My Goal for the Week - How many days can I reuse/recycle the hairstyle ?!?!

Day #4

I reached my goal. I actually like Day #4's style on Princess better than Day #3.

Category: 4th Day ‘Do
Time: 8-12 minutes in the morning
Needed: braids from the nights before, brush, comb, hairspray, little clips & flower bobby pins (optional)

Last night I cut out all of the elastics out of the twist braids but I didn't brush out her hair. This morning I brushed out her hair. It gave her hair a lot of body. Our Princess doesn't have her sister's hair. It is much thinner and doesn't have the body her sister has. It does, however, hold a curl or wave pretty good and it is very long.

I did a french twist. It was a bit loose - I was running really late this morning so I wasn't able to spend the time I wanted on it. I twisted in down to the bottom, about where a middle part would be and then continued to twist the hair. Then I wrapped the piece around her head and bobby pinned it just past the top.

I repeated the french twist on the other side and wrapped the end around as well.

I used a few clear clips near the top - like I said I was running late and I couldn't find my bobby pin stash - they were next to my computer instead of in my bathroom! I did add some bobby pins and then embellished with a few of Little Bird's flower topped bobby pins that I had made to go with her fairy costume. I thought it looked soft and cute. It was a little lopsided. Hopefully the next time I try it I have more time, but overall it was a very cute style.

Hopefully tomorrow I will get to finish what I wanted to add to this post as well as yesterday. Good night!

Wednesday Morning (Day #3)

Day #3

With only a four day school week I'm trying to get a much bang for my buck with the girls' hair.

Category: 3rd Day ‘Do
Time: 5-7 minutes in the morning
Needed: pony weaves from the nights before, two elastics, brush, comb, hairspray, flower (optional)

I kept Little Bird's hair in from the last two days, see link here for yesterday and here for the Monday. This morning (at last night's request mind you) I brushed her hair and french braided it. I did not wet down all of her hair, I did wet the comb and just wet down any fly away wispies. Little Bird specifically asked for flowers in her hair – last night - and I held her to it!

I hairsprayed it and added the flowers and that was it. It still looked pretty good. Tonight I cut out all the elastics with a seam ripper. We'll see the state it is in tomorrow morning. She requested just two plain pony tails and flowers. We shall see.

- I will continue this post tomorrow by added Princess's hair from today. Sandman is calling. . .

Tuesday Morning (Day #2)

Day #2

We only have four days of school this week. I’m wondering if I can get 3 or 4 days from this hairstyle. This may be a problem as it has been snowing and the girls need to wear hats outside. We will see. . .

Time: 5-7 minutes in the morning

I kept Princess’s hair in from yesterday, see link here. This morning I took out the pony tail, brushed her hair minus the twist braids and put it back into a pony tail. I did not wet down all of her hair, I did wet the comb and just wet down any fly away wispies – especially on her neck.

Then I twisted her pony tail and wrapped it around itself to make a bun. I secured the end with a bobby pin.

Next I wrapped the braids around the bun. I was going for a bit of a swirvy pattern. (Like how I just make up terms – I should start my own dictionary.) I bobby pinned those to the bottom of the bun.

Then I untwisted the bun a bit and bobby pinned it so that the bun was bigger, looser and closer to the head.

I hairsprayed her hair and tried to control the worst of the wispies. This may not pass muster with some of my hair heroes – but for this working mom – it looked very nice and the princess was happy.

Little Bird was not exactly cooperative this morning. The best I could do was take out the messy buns and brush her hair.

(By the way - this is pretty much how she looks most morning - she - like me, is NOT a morning person. I, however, have learned not to growl at the world! - usually;-)

The pony weave still looked cool - but as for the rest of it. . .

I did add some bobby pins that had flowers hot glued to them to add a little pizzaz. . . You be the judge!

Monday Morning

The Princess

My 6 year old is happy to sit for me as long as I made her hair pretty. She loves all things pink and sparkly.

Category: Overnight Prep Hairstyle
Time: 20+ minutes night before, 5-7 minutes in the morning

I'll begin with Princess's hair today: I had a vague idea in my head and was pleasantly pleased with the end results!

I began after her bath last night:

I put gel in her hair and I sectioned off several small sections along the front and made twist braids on each.

She looks a little spider like here don'tchathink?

I loosely twisted all the hair and put it in a pony tail/bun for the night. It was pretty wet. The first picture was from last night and the next from this morning after she slept on it.

Princess's hair was still a little damp this morning when I took it out of the ponytail. So after I took it out I dried it some more using the diffuser. I didn't even brush the ends of her hair. The curls were quite nice after I dried them.

Then I pulled her hair - minus the twist braids - into a pony tail securing with a pony tail holder.

Then I added in the twist braids and added another pony tail. You can see the two different colors of pony tails I used. Then I attached a bow. I actually attached it to the pony tail holder so as not to show. Next time I'll use smaller or hair colored pony tail holders.

I'm thrilled with how it turned out. I'm especially happy with the overnight twist that resulted in curls. BONUS!I can't wait to see how I can recycle this style tomorrow morning. . .

Little Bird

This is my older daughter, age 9. She is a sport girl who occasionally tolerates me doing something with her hair.

Time: 20+ minutes night before, 5-7 minutes in the morning

This is my version of a "It's A Girl Thing" post from September, 9. I made 4 little messy buns because Little Bird's hair is pretty short. I also would have liked to flat iron all of her hair but my grumpy girl was actually growling at me this morning so after I finished the messy buns I called it DONE!

I began last night after bath time. I put gel in Little Bird's hair. Then I did a diagonal part and made 6 pony tails on each side.

I made all the pony tails with red elastics and then used green to show where I attached the twisted pony to the next pony. It's hard to tell, but I twisted each pony to keep the short hairs under control.
The second picture shows the weaves a little better.

Last night I did some messy buns just to see what they'd look like.

They were very messy Messy Buns.

After visiting my first hair blogs I noticed right away that the perfect hair do often only looks complete with the perfect hair accessory. I love to craft, although I haven't found the time to do it for a long time (long story). I had fun over the last two weeks purchasing ribbons and flowers from all sorts of places and then learning how to make some of my own frills!

Think garage sale, bargain bin, Salvation Army, old flower arrangements on top of your local craft store. The flower I use in this slide show came in a big bunch from Kmart for $3.00.

You would laugh if you saw my first attempt at making these. Fortunately they were all dismantled and I started over, using a better technique and better supplies. Here is a little tutorial that I'd like to share. I've had lots of practice as I been working on dozens of bows and flowers that will shortly become gifts for little girl friends. . . I hope this helps.

And So It Begins. . .

Only about a month ago I was searching for a hairstyle for my oldest daughter. We were headed to the salon the next day to have her hair trimmed. I accidentally stumbled on The Story of a Princess and her Hair as well as another site or two. I thought - wow - incredible, wouldn't that be cool but seriously these moms have TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS!

Ok, so a week goes by and I lurk and view more of that blog. . .and find more such as Babes in Hairland and Adopt a 'Do. The next thing I know, I'm trying out a hairstyle or two - even making my own variation. Of course I start this on a Saturday, when I have plenty of time and don't have to wake up early. . .

Another two weeks go by and I'm thinking about what I need to accomplish these hairstyles, products, tools, decorations . . . elastics being my favorite new purchase, because without those I never could have successful accomplished: Of course if I spend time on Little Bird's hair, Princess wants hers done too. . . I also have to explain that Little Bird decided at the LAST minute to join the play and I had to make a quick run to JoAnn Fabrics to get stuff to make her costume. While I was there I decided to pick up a little ribbon to make some hair bows. . . well perhaps that's a story for another post.

Now I am having fun. It doesn't always take that much time. I'm learning I can recycle many hairstyles, get a couple of days out of them. . . the girls are getting perhaps the tiniest bit addicted to getting compliments on the hair. . .

I LOVED it! The Princess LOVED it! I've got to try this one again!!!! We got more attention for this one than ever - lots of high school girls. Ok, so now I'm hooked. Oh, I got the idea from It's A Girl Thing. She's got great step by steps.

As I'm finding more and more hair blogs I see more sites that have different hair. My Princess doesn't have really thick hair, although on further concideration, it's not really that bad. . . I find I can do some things on the weekend - including mini braids and curlers. . .

So this is actually a school morning and a day #2 style. I did the mini braids and hair headband Sunday night and put her hair in curlers then a poof (what DO you call that thing??) with her hair down in ringlets. It was inspired by (ok really copied from) "Tween Hairstyle, Princess Braids" from "The Story of a Princess and her Hair" website. It was lovely, we went on a field trip to the theatre that day. So this day two was just a smooth down of the headband, another poof with a side pony and curling with the flat iron. I was so delighted that I was able to get a day #3. But I didn't take any pictures of day #4. If I remember right, it was a very messy version of the above!

Now for my real pièce de résistance - I found a terrific idea on Girly Do's By Jenn that I absolutely loved!

The top is the night before doing a dry run. I made 3 ponies like in Jenn's site. Little Bird's hair is too short for that so when I washed I sectioned her hair into 4 ponies. Next was my attempt to show in pictures what I did - the sectioning and curlers.

Gotta work on that.

I had Little Bird wear her hair in simple buns for school all day so as not to lose the curl.

Then I used probably 40 bobbie pins to get the look I wanted - my ribbon was probably a yard and a half long. I also added 10 flowers that I had hot glued to bobby pins. She looked very fairy-like!

And so as I learn more. . . I will post more. Meanwhile I need to organize my google bookmarks; my "hairstyles" folder is getting quite unruly! I'm looking forward to learning so much as I join all my new heros of the hairstyles. . .
